Everderm-CL for Reducing Stretch Marks

Everderm Research

The following is a summary of some of the clinical studies that have been done using the ingredients found in Everderm-CL

Siegesbeckia Orientalis Extract

Siegesbeckia Orientalis Extract has been used for thousands of years to sooth inflammation and stimulate wound healing.  Extracted from the herb Siegesbeckia orientalis L, this extract helps regenerate skin tissue through collagen matrix build-up.

A patent of Pierre Fabre Medicaments discusses this extract, stating that it stimulates wound healing, promotes regular tissue renewal, and restores elasticity to damaged skin with collagen fibers.  Siegesbeckia Orientalis Extract has anti-inflammatory properties as well.

Research has been conducted related to how well the extract can restructure stretch marks.  Stretch marks result from abnormal stretching of the skin through such conditions as weight gain or pregnancy.  The stretch marks affect the elastin fibers in the middle dermis, making them diminish or disappear.  An effective treatment of stretch marks must address this problem, restoring normal levels of collagen and elastin fibers. A four week clinical study was conducted with a crème containing 1.5% of Siegesbeckia Orientalis Extract twice a day.

Length of Streaks   Reduced 52.15%
Surface Smoothness Increased 13.7%
Indented Surfaces Reduced 55.4%>
Length of Irregularities Reduced 52.2%

These results indicate that Siegesbeckia Orientalis Extract does in fact restructure tissue, and possesses qualities that are valuable in the treatment of stretch marks.

Emblica

Emblica is an extract from the herb Phyllanthus emblica, which has been used for centuries in India and other countries.

In studies, Emblica has demonstrated that it has powerful antioxidant properties, and remain stable and effective for over a year.  (Most antioxidants such as vitamins C and E lose their effectiveness after just a few months.)  Emblica has been shown to increase skin hydration and skin lipids, reduce collagenase activity, reduce erythema, and reduce inflammation.  Emblica is also a skin lightener, without the toxicity issues of most commercial skin ligheners.

Biopeptide-CL

Biopeptide-CL is a synthetic protein, made up of a fragment of collagen and palmitic acid.  The palmitic acid is used to make collagen more lipophillic and make it more compatible with the human skin.  Developed through much research, Biopeptide-CL was the result of an effort to create a substance that would act like retinoic acid without the negative characteristics.

The reported results are as follows:

In vitro:

Increases collagen production by the fibroblasts by as much as 350%.

Increases hyaluronic acid production by the fibroblasts by as much as 146%.

In vivo:

The following statistics were gathered using image analysis of volunteers who used crèmes containing a 3% concentration of Biopeptide-CL for 28 days.

Surface roughness Reduced 17%
Mean depth of wrinkles Reduced 23%
Depth of main wrinkle Reduced 39%
Skin thickness Increased 4%

Palmitoyl Tetrapeptide-3

Palmitoyl Tetrapeptide-3 is a synthetic peptide that is a fragment of immunoglobulin G that has been combined with palmitic acid.

Recent studies have shown that Palmitoyl Tetrapeptide-3 can make a substantial difference in the appearance of stretch marks. In one study, 93% of subjects showed a marked improvement in the length and depth of stretch marks and wrinkles.  In addition, there was a substantial improvement in the skin smoothness and tone.
